Last weekend Edinburgh was again proud to host the it's 9th Annual
Beginners tournament. We hope that all those who played had a great time
and we are again confident that it has been one of the best ultimate
weekends in the calender.

We again had no problems filling the 32 team spaces avaliable for the
largest annual indoor tournament in Britain.

7 Purple Haze 1
6 Mange Le Foufou
5 Ro-Sham-Bo 1
4
3 Diablo Allstars & Boogie Knights
2 Mohawks
1 Ro-Sham-Bo 2 (Winning the Tankard of Triumph)

Many of the matches through out the weekend were very close and many pools
had teams tied for position after all the games were completed.
The Final between Mohawks and locals Ro-Sham-Bo 2 was very closley faught
with RSB taking a large lead at the start only to be brought back to a
single point, from there on in it was any one game. A couple of quick
points at the death secured a home win in front of a largly partisan
crowd.

The all important spirit prize went to the Boogie Knights, a great
achievement in their first tournament.

The party this year was held in the Teviot student union, so no problems
with space as last year, and was MASSIVE. Alot of nudity, including a
little full frontal(and I do mean little), followed and judgeing by some
of the sorry faces on Sunday a huge amout of beer was drunk.

The party prize went to the Boogie Knights.

Three pint challange scores:

Open: DJ & Dave(Phat 'Eds) 16.54 seconds
Womans: Elaine & Heide(Shooting Stars) 24.43
Co-Ed: Me & Alia(Flatball) a sorry 40 seconds

The sharking prize was hotly contested this year, however it had to be
given to Sam from Random Fling, for as he put it, trying to shark everyone
at a Tequela party, every one in the chippy, everyone on the walk to the
venue, everyone at the venue and everyone onthe way home. We never really
found out if he had any luck.

The final prize was for the coaches hat which this year went to the Phat'
Eds Alien.

I hope you all had a great weekend and are already looking forward to next
years event, which we are going to book in the next week. Lots of
forewarning.

Thanks,

Paul Eastman
