Absolutely disgraceful.....especially since they didn't give out anything to put in
the bongs.

Now that really would be worth a 150 quid entry fee......

Two teams from Grantham College competed with open and student teams this
weekend in Nottingham. My junior team were energised by their first
tournament, for which they were hosts in January and were excited to enter
more tournaments. Nottingham offered an ideal opportunity close to home.

A great time was had by all my students.

During the closing ceremony though, I could not find a Hole big enough to
hide in.

I find it difficult to comprehend how the organisers saw fit to award Red
Eye Bongs from Amsterdam as prizes.

This is the first time I have encountered the legitimisation of drug taking
in Ultimate.

To make it worse the awards ceremony was in full view of parents and
sponsors of my team and was videoed by Block Stack and Two Smoking Hammers.
A Spliff holder was also given as a gift to my junior team during an post
game huddle.

Some of us are putting big efforts in getting growth, TV coverage,
publicity, and legitimacy for our sport. We shall never get any of this as
long as this sort of thing happens.

Whether you are pro or anti Cannabis use, I am sure you will agree with me
that such promotion of an ILLEGAL act so blatantly (and especially when
targeted at Juniors) is very harmful for our sport.

I charge the organisers of this weekend's tournament in nottingham with
BRINGING THE GAME INTO DISREPUTE, and I would like YOU the ultimate
community to register your displeasure by replying to britdisc.

As an aside. I would like to know what the video makers will be doing about
releasing video of the awards ceremony (I think the BUF would also like to
know). If the awards ceremony is to be featured on the video I'll HAVE MY
20 BACK

Action please BUF.
