Probably already been said in so many words by someone, but my
thoughts on the women's-alongside-open situation...
I think that it's a pretty lame idea having a women's tour
alonside the biggest open tour. I can't make it to Bristol, but if I could,
I would want to play for the open team and know several women who feel the same.
More challenging experience, more competition, all adds up to better women
players and so better womens tournaments at seperate times. More importantly, by
having a women's tour alongside tour 1, it encourages seperation of the sport
into men's and women's. Isn't one of the BEST things about
ultimate the fact that men and women are EQUAL? I think so. It's one of the few
sports where gender is irrelevant.
Some of the best players on some teams are women and want to
play at the best level they can, that being Open Tour. There are plenty of
other weekends where an Open Women's Tour could be arranged surely? Why
force women to make decisions between the two?
I fully support the mixed events as well, and these should
definately be kept seperate too.
