Title: directions
Don't worry people, you will be able to watch the England match this weekend. Now that's out of the way, here are some directions:
We are at the Maiden Castle Sports Centre on the A177 just outside of Durham.
By car:
From the A1M, take junction 61, A177 Peterlee (NOT J62 A690 to Durham) and follow the A177 signposted to Bowburn and Peterlee. Once on the A177 stay on this road for about 3 miles, passing through Bowburn and Shincliffe. We are on the right hand side opposite Houghall College. From the train station:
By Foot: Walk out of the railway station and start walking down the bank until you see a footpath on the left signposted to City centre. Walk down the hill until you come to the main road and follow the road across the bridge past Riverside house. Once across the bridge follow the footpath up onto the flyover and turn right and walk up into the Market Square. Follow the road left down Saddler Street and then left again down and across Elvet Bridge. Once across the bridge turn right and follow the road past Dunelm house and keep left and follow the road up Hallgarth Street. When you come to a roundabout continue straight across and down the bank (it's signposted A177 to Bowburn) and we are on the left-hand side about ½ mile down the road. It is about a 30-40 minute walk.
By Bus: Take any of these - 13, 20, 56, 57, 235.
By Taxi: You can take a taxi from the bus or train station. Cost approximately £3.50-£4.00.
There is a map of the area here. Ignore the arrow, and the bit that says 'Maiden Castle.' The sports centre is the little building opposite Houghall College, in the middle right square, and the train station is the purple circle in the top left square.
I hope this all makes sense.
See you at 10am Saturday,
Euan.
