Flying Femme Fest (part1) 2002
Tournament Report
First, congratulations to all the teams and players
that attended the first All Women's Event, this
winter. I think everyone was impressed with the
spirit, determination and atmosphere of the event.
Not least the number of new faces and new teams
entered.
There were several teams with a dashing team kit this
year, and I wish there had been prizes for the most
appreciated.
With the absence of Bliss or Fierce in the event, more
teams felt they were in with a good chance of winning
and this showed in the powerful, almost epic
performances of the top teams.
In fact, all the teams seemed to show a resiliance and
determination to do well, even when the odds seemed to
mount against them. THATS what I call spirit.
Thanks to all those people who made themselves useful
at the event, particularly, Kermit and� Marv(?), and
of course the Flyghtclub people who hosted teams,
especially Stephy and Emma Rutter.
Looking at the final game, that is where epic
definitely waited, to a full audience Space Maidens
took an early lead, but not quite enough to put
Princess Layout out of the game� in fact, at 4-2
Princess began their comeback after an injury to
Surinha, effectively putting her out of the game. The
comeback was just enough to take the juncture to 4s,
and then trading until 7s, when the buzzer went. A
couple of turnovers each way in the very tense, short
finale left Princess with victory although I hope
Space Maiden don�t feel like they lost. Both teams
were VERY impressive and inspiring for the other
teams.
Finally, thanks to the people who stayed at Stephy�s
house for their clear-up efforts and Myth for those
crates of beer!
