Hi Britdisc

The following message about the UKU Tour 2003 is from Chris Hughes.

All,

I'm well aware of the consternation of people over the upcoming season.
Esentially this has been derived from the delayed elections of directors
for
the upcoming year. To that end I was asked by the comittee if I could
oversee things until the elections. I have agreed to do this and will be
trying to make some progress over this in the next couple of weeks.

However before that some details / issues:
I have taken over the DoC role as a 'caretaker'. This clearly has not
been
an elected decision but more an emergency position. To that end I
percieved
that my mandate should be to ensure that the upcoming season takes place
as
effectively as possible. I have put myself forward as a nominee for the
DoC
position in the upcoming elections, as many of you will know.
Additionally a
number of people have discussed with me my plans for what I would like
to in
the future in developing the season. I do not feel that it is
appropropriate
for those changes to be made at this stage. 1. I was not elected to this
position and any changes that I proposed would be integral to elected
post.
You have the right to vote on them ans since you (the electorate)
didn't,
those changes will not be forced upon you. 2. It is too late in the year
to
start implementing radical changes.

Therfore it is my intention to continue buisness in the format that
people
can expect, i.e. as similar to last year as possible

So the details:
I know that Si Weeks has already proposed some dates, and had asked for
bids
as from last september. If you wish to submit bids you need to speak to
me.
DO NOT USE THIS EMAIL ADDRESS. Any replies to this address will be
ignored.
Similarly, if you know my home address' or work addresses or phone
numbers
do not start using them either - you will not make friends. I will be
setting up an email account for people to contact me on.

The tour:
I have already agreed to Adam hosting Tour 1. This give us time to sort
the
rest of the tour out. If you wish to bid for a tour event. Sort yourself
out
ASAP and be ready to email me once I have provided you with an address.
At
this stage I will favour bids from proven venues. You can expect to have
to
cater for 40 or more teams, and so will need to offer over 10 pitches
all
weekend. (venues do not have to be proven in the tour, just that the
organisational team and venue have coped with an event that large in the
past - e.g student nationals or similar)

IMPORTANT: This means that you can treat all dates for tour events as
provisional (with the exception of T1)we will try and match the already
identified dates in the calendar (and bids that fit those dates will
have an
advantage) but that all events will fit the present calendar is
something
that I cannot guarantee.

The coed tour:
The same applies to the coed tour as the tour. However, due to the
smaller
size of venue required for the coed tour I am open to bids from untried
venues. This is a good way to prove your event for fututre tour bids.

Indoor qualifiers and nationals:
We need a selection of qualifier events spread around the country. I m
already aware of two; Weston and Leeds, and need the organisers of these
to
provide me with details. We would need at least another 2 including one
in
Scotland.
We need a bid for Nationals. I (personally) am trying to arrange some
options, but if anyone else has anything then I would be more than
welcome
to here from them. Nationals does not have to be a two pitch venue.
Whilst
this would be nice. quality is far more important than quantity. I am
happy
to accept bids from single pitch venues who are only able to cater for
ten
teams whislt providing 30 minute games, albeit with 100+ pound entry
fee. I
believe that teams are happy to pay for quality rather than have small
pitches and short games.

Any questions please ask, via the emial to be provided shortly.
