All, For those of you that can't access the webpage a brief resume (2:00pm Weds);
Open: Two pools - winners progressing to single pool (carry some results) followed by playoffs - The men managed to win their pool, despite losing to Denmark by 3 points, but they beat Germany (2nd seeds) on the way. That Denmark result now looks awkward as in the second pool teams carry the results against teams already played - so GB start the second pool with a won 1 lost 1 record. GB have beaten Sweden by 3 and France by 8 to move that to a 3-1 record with Finland, who won their pool, to play. However Denmark have also beaten Finland (by 4) and France (by 2) with Sweden to play. If Denmark beat Sweden, they finish top of the pool and carry the top seeds into the playoffs, so in a moment of madness the GB teams may be supporting the borg in the game against Denmark. GB should run out winners against Finland, as the results suggest that despite winning their pool that they have not been playing well, as the lost to France tin the opening game. But with quarter finals as part of the playoffs GB's future is in their own hands as they have already qualified for them. At the moment they are trying to line up an easier route to the final. Women: Single round robin pool - Seeded 4th the girls lost their first game against Finland 16-18, so a very tight contest. They have won the rest of the games but still have Sweden, Germany, and the Netherlands to play - three tough games. Results from other games suggest the girls are on track to make the semis but this division is still wide open since the Finns and Swedes lost to Germany. The GB team could finish top of pool, but also might not make it into the semis at all. However qualification depends on their results rather than relying on others. Expect a 2nd or 3rd place in the pool for the ladies. Mixed: Single round robin pool - The GB team, seeded second, have lost one of their six games so far to the Germans (seeded 3rd). The rest have been comfortable victories. The Finns (1st seeds) also lost to the Germans but were closer than the GB boys and girls. GB yet to play Finland (last game on Thursday). This match up looks likely to be a semi on Friday as well. Juniors: Double round robin pool - The Juniors lost their second game to Sweden 17-13 but have kicked everyone else in the pool, including Finland (2nd seeds - GB 3rd) 17-6. They won the first of the second round pools, but today's results aren't in yet. Looking good to progress straight to final. Masters: Double round robin pool - the masters have won all the 1st round games (Germany got closest 17-10) and so far GB have won all the second series of games with two more games to go until the play-offs including the rematch against Germany. Expect to see the old men in the final at this rate, but they do have to negotiate semis.
