OK Pundits as you may recall at the start of last season I put forward my prediction of the top 8 for 2003. I also collected several predictions from other high profile names. I've come up with a little scoring system to measure who got closest to the actual result.
If you place a team in their correct position you score 0 points for every place out of position you placed a team you score 1 point.
E.g. if you guessed Leeds would finish 8th and the actually 2nd then you score 6 points. Pundit with the lowest score wins. Here are the top 16 as they finished in 2003.
1 980 Clapham 1 2 887 LeedsLeedsLeeds 1 3 843 Chevron Action Flash North 4 812 Chevron Action Flash South 5 807 Fluid Druids 6 766 Clapham 2 7 735 Fusion 1 8 720 TeamShark 9 681 Bristol Plastic Factory 1 10 632 Blue Arse Flies 1 11 551 Red 1 12 537 LeedsLeedsLeeds 2 13 411 Hammerage 1 14 382 Red Dog 1 15 356 Smash & Grab 16 353 Atomic Horse
And here are the pundits complete with their scores.
KEVIN LOWE
0 Clapham 1 4 Clapham 2 0 Chevron North 2 LLLeeds 1 3 Sharks 2 Chevron South 2 Fluid Druids 3 Red
Total Points 16
ROGER THOMPSON (though I think he was only talking about tour 1)
0 Clapham1 3 Druids 1 Chevvy South 2 Leeds 1 Clapham 2 2 Sharks 4 Chevvy North 1 Bristol
Total Points 14
LEWIS GLOVER
0 Clapham 1 0 LLL 1 Chevy South 1 Druids 2 Chevy North 1 Fusion 1 Sharks 3 Red
Total Points 9
CHRISTIAN 'WIGSY' NISTRI
0 Clapham 0 LLL 1 Chevron South 1 Druids 2 Chevron North 0 Clapham2 0 Fusion 0 TeamShark
Total Points 4
TOM STYLES (THAT'S ME THAT IS)
0 Clapham 1 0 LLLeeds 1 3 Clapham 2 1 Fluid Druids 2 Chevron North 2 Sharks 3 Chevron South 6 Red Dog 1 (I was looking at third and beating Roger until Red Dog)
Total points 17 (OK Don't Laugh)
So Wigsy wins the inaugural Pundit of the Year award with Lewis taking a good second and Roger proving he knows more than most in third. I'm rubbish but it hasn't stopped me waxing lyrical so far.
A more organised entry system for a bigger competition next year me thinks.
Cheers For Now
Tom
