Last weekend saw uBu organising a tournament for the first time, which was held in
Aston University. The pool games were played on Saturday and they managed to showcase
how inept this TD is when it comes to seeding teams. The lower seeded teams,
including second teams and the junior teams, managed to upstage their higher-seeded
counterparts.

On Saturday night, there was a slight problem with the social, but everyone still had
fun as they went to different pubs followed by a clubbing session till the wee hours
of the morning.

Sunday started with the crossovers. As if to prove how important crossovers are,
Reading Dragons, despite finishing last in their pool, stepped up their game on Sunday
to reach the plate final. An exciting sudden death game was witnessed between Lords
of the Ring and Dragons. The crowd was driven to frenzy and numerous cheers of
support were heard for the Dragons. Turnover after turnover, both teams looked for
the quick point until Dragons finally prevailed. Reading Dragons also won the Spirit
Award.

Some of the pool winners had the opportunity to sleep in (or party all night long!)
due to their efforts during the Saturday pool games. However, it may have worked
against them as some of them arrived for their first game looking rather plastered,
namely Fly TNT.

Flings Flyght of Fancy finished unbeaten throughout the weekend and put the icing on
the cake by beating Bears 2 in the cup final with a score of 12-1. From what Ive
heard, it was the first tournament for some of their players, so congratulations on
winning!!!

The Bears teams played well in reaching both plate and cup finals. Bears 1 won the
plate final, beating an on-form Dragons team. In reaching the cup final, Bears 2 made
a huge mockery of their initial seeding and deserved to be applauded for their
efforts. Special mention to the junior teams, Tornadoes and Thundercatch for
finishing in the top eight despite having a low seeding. Thundercatch could have
finished higher but they had to leave early due to transportation problems.

All in all, it was a fun weekend. Thanks to all the teams for coming and making uBus
first tourney a great success. Hope to see you guys next year (and some of you next
weekend for Midlands regionals!!)
