Hello, The weekend just gone saw the holding of the "University Not the Nationals" at the World Famous Clifton Sport Hall in Nottingham. Teams from all over the UK including 3 from Scotland descended on Robin Hoods home town for a great weekend of Ultimate. The tournament was once again supported by Lookfly (www.lookfly.com) who brought their pitch side shop along, and donated quite a few of the prizes. Rich Hims supplied an excellent, 2 pools of eight, schedule which through up loads of really close games and at least 10 draws. "No Frills" were looking promising from the start and were the only team to win all 7 of their pool matches. "Jedi" managed 6 but their early form didn't last. "Ro Sham Bo" had a shaky start but got going by their third game winning 5 of 7. "BLT1" had some mixed results but came out of their pool in the top half of the draw. Fish missed a game after over sleeping on Sunday morning as a result they dropped from a probable 3rd seed to 7th seed, which mixed things up a bit. No Frills vs Ro Sham Bo in the semi Final was an absolute cracker, point for point through the whole game, finishing with a sudden death point which both team dropped in the end zone. Classic Stuff. The final was also a very close affair, though No Frills did look as though they were controlling the game, BLT gave chase but never took the lead. Despite a valiant effort BLT never quite got on even terms and their local rivals No Frills came away as the champions. In the Plate Final Haze 2 beat Holloway Hammers despite Holloway using a clever little wipe clean board to plan all their plays between games. PRESS COVERAGE During the weekend we were visited by the Nottingham Evening Post who have done a small piece in tonight's newspaper. We were also visited by a photographer from the Daily Telegraph, who spent three hours getting some fantastic shots to go with a piece about the sport that will be in next Saturday's issue. The force of the head-board interface was frightening. The fact that he got up was a miracle, but he then went on to play a vital role in all the games on Sunday including the final.
