BD, First off I'd like to thank Adam, Matt and the crew for hosting an excellent tour 1. The Pitches seemed to cope reasonably well with the deluges where others would have turned into complete mud baths. I would though like to start a debate on seedings and the structure of Tour 1. Seeding is a tremendously difficult task, and I am far from envious of the DoC who has to make the decisions. However, due to how the Tour is working this year, seeding has never before been so important. 1. Tour 1 is no longer an open tournament, making it more difficult for potential mis-seedings to even themselves out 2. Only 2 teams are relegated from the A tour at each event. E.g. If at Tour 1 the teams seeded 13-16 (i.e. the last 4 teams in the A tour) are actually weaker than seeds 17-20) (i.e. the first 4 in the B tour) it will take 2 events for everything to sort itself out. This inevitably makes the seeding for the first tour crucial and no matter how different factors you consider it is inevitable the discrepancies will occur. Not being one for complaining and not offering a potential solution, I'd like to offer one. I think Tour 1 should take the format of a regular Tour event from previous seasons (i.e Tours 2 - 4). This would deliver initial pools of 4 from 1-8 9-16 17-24 etc but crucially it would give a four team cross over from 13 - 20 allowing up to four teams to switch over. This would, in my opinion, give a better chance for any mis-seedings to be resolved. Tours 2- 4 could then take place as A and B events as suggested with 2 up 2 down. This would of course mean that the first tour would have to be held at the same venue, but as Bristol, who has held Tour 1 for the last 4 (or longer) years, seems capable of hosting 50 plus teams without concern I can't really see this being a problem. Would like to hear what other teams think about this situation and my proposed solution.
