Day 2 of Worlds and the first encouters for all the GB teams. Nothing shocking to report, GB teams won all the games they were meant to win and lost those they were meant to lose.

Of note to report is GB Mixed first game against the French. The first half gave your correspondence cause for concern after the offence failed to shift into gear. However, the defence was in top form and once the O team found their feet, GB made short work of the frogs and took the second half by storm, winning the second half comfortably to take the game 17-12.
Later, they trounced the South Africans 17-2.

GB Women had a comfortable first win, bageling the Latvians (who had proved they were no mugs by despatching Ireland 17-2). The team to beat though is Canada, especially after they crushed the USA 17-10.

GB O had a comfortable start against the Russians (17-4), but then faced a tricky encounter against Holland. We needn't've been concerned. GB's D team got D after D which proved too much for Holland who succumbed 17-7. GB's dominance was proven by the time out count, which saw Holland take their full allocation whilst our boys saw no reason to trouble the scorekeeper. Si Hill did throw away though, commenting:- "I visualised Wigsy, but hit the fence."

GB juniors had a good day winning both of their games whilst the junior women had a tough start to international competition, but are improving with every point.

Anyway, I'm back off to the Irish first night party (though every night is party night in the Irish camp).

More soon...
