>From Barry O'Kane: Hi all,
As you are no doubt aware the UKUA Conference will be talking place on the 23rd Oct on London. AIM OF CONFERENCE One of the major aims of the conference is to begin to draft a UKUA 4 (2005-2009) year development plan for Ultimate in the UK. The idea is that this development plan will be a short document setting out where we want Ultimate to be in 4 years time and outlining the targets and broad strategies needed to get there. This document will not detail every little thing we might want to do but, rather, be a guide to steer the decisions made by the UKUA and a reference to help us keep on track. Nor will it be a restrictive document limiting the UKUA or Ultimate players in general, it will be reviewed regularly to ensure that the path laid out is always relevant. Although longer term aims may be considered in the plan, 4 years has been chosen because it is a realistic timeframe over which significant things can be achieved while at the same time remaining relevant to everyone involved in Ultimate this year and next year. The aim of the plan, therefore, is to move the UKUA from being reactive (constantly fire fighting and only just staying on top of things) to being more proactive (longer term planning to avoid problems and ensure more successes). In order to write the 4 year plan there are 4 basic questions to be answered: 1. Where have we come from? 2. Where are we now? 3. Where do we want to be next year and in 4 years time? 4. How will we get there? We already have (at least partial) answers to the first 2 questions (some relevant stats and figures will be available at the conference). The purpose of the conference is to find the answers to questions 3 and 4. WILL YOU BE REPRESENTED? It is obvious that the more input we get into this process the more we will get out of it. We have representatives from the following teams attending: Clapham, Ltd Release, Skunks, Bliss, Rampant X, HRH, Shocker, GB Masters, Fire, Disconduct, Lords&Ladies, Lucky Huckers, Lords of the Ring, Smash & Grab, Princess Layout, Whatever, RedDog, BPF, GB Mixed, GB Juniors, LeedsLeedsLeeds, Jedi, Fusion, Shox, OW!, YO-Mama, Tenacious Devon, DHB, Flyght Club, Block Stack, Sheffield Steal, Inbreds, GB Women, SWIFT, EMO, Chevron, Brunel, Disc Doctors, Exeter. Is your team on this list? Is a team from your area? If you cannot make it to the conference but would like you views considered you can download this form (which will be used as a starting point on the day): www.ukultimate.com/about/docs/UKUA_Cnfrnc_goals.xls and return it to [EMAIL PROTECTED] by Wed 20th Oct. There will also be a short period to provide feedback on the post conference report. Basically if you do not take part in this discussion process then you will have no grounds to be unhappy about what happens to your sport over the next few years! ---------------------------------------- My Inbox is protected by SPAMfighter 4658 spam mails have been blocked so far.
