I don't wish to join in the general debate at this point as it's already
exploded in a hundred different directions, but would like to pick up one
small, irksome point...

That's mischievous bordering on nasty, Mr Cross!

We're not whining about our results. In fact we won those three back-to-back
games. Indeed after Stu's injury we went on to win our quarter and only lost
our semi against Fire by two points. By the way, if you don't think Stu is
worth two points in a game, you haven't been paying attention, so we weren't
too far from repeating our "success".

We're complaining that as a team we had to play constant Ultimate from
9.30am until 3.30pm without a single second to get food, to get out of the
sun, or even to sit down. We'd support complaints from any other team who
suffered the same experience, whether they finished first or forty first.

If you want to argue that competition at the top flight of British Ultimate
should be structured as an endurance event, then go ahead, but don't accuse
us of making excuses for our disappointing performance. We're simply
suggesting that it is neither productive nor healthy for any team,
regardless of squad size, to play six hours of non-stop Ultimate in any
given day.

You really should talk to your team-mates more then.
