Hi guys,
First of all wed like to extend our sincerest congratulations to Leeds
Jedi and friends for their completion of the world record attempt. We
were all very impressed to hear of your success, and the good cause
that you were supporting.
Secondly, wed like to thank everyone who came to the Durham Hat, for
what was a fantastic weekend, and a resounding success in itself.
Thirdly we'd like to say that these two statements are not mutually
exclusive. Impressed as we are by Leeds over the weekend, it
is somewhat disappointing that they can taint their good work by
implying that all those who went to the Durham Hat were somehow wrong
to do so, and missed out as a result. Furthermore, their implication
that the Durham Hat was the only thing that others were doing at the
time, keeping them from the record attempt [which incidentally only
had 30 places anyway], is misguided. Not only was there another
Northern tournament happening at the same time [including for
example Motion and Boogie Knights], but also you have to account for
the remaining hundreds, if not thousands, of ultimate players in the
UK who, we can assure you, were not at the Durham Hat!
Its a shame there arent more weekends in the year, its a shame that
some of our own players were unable to help out in your record
attempt, and its a shame our two events clashed. But all these were
unfortunately unavoidable.
Once again, congratulations on your achievement. However, theres no
need to attempt to devalue other tournaments in the face of your own,
especially considering your limited places.
Yours,
Beej, Linz and Jasper [Northern Lights]
