Matchday 2: Fire Still Burning, Release Unlimited

Bright sunshine and widespread frost greeting the early rising London
Ultimate community for the second instalment of the 2005-06 Winter League.
Whilst the rest of the country was waking to the news of a massive fire in a
fuel depot (thankfully there were no fatalities), ultimate players were
already up and stuck in the resulting traffic jam!.

A fire was also burning at Wandsworth where Fire of London held off the
efforts of Discuits, Clapham and Fever to continue their march to the Open
title. A "Team Shark-esque" Discuits edged out Clapham in sudden death to
take second place, but how will they fare next time around without the
Oxford players who had joined the party to commemorate/celebrate the return
to Jon "Boston" Palmer back to the States?

Lower down UCL will be pleased that, after winning promotion in MatchDay1,
they defeated No-Lo to have another crack at the top teams. Joining them in
January will be ABH, who defeated Strange Blue 10-7 to win Division 2.
Newcomers Brunel Ultimate 2 will also be pleased to record their first
victories in Winter League, taking down Thrown2 and OW!2 in the three-way
battle of the second teams.

LtdRelease gained revenge over Mixed MD1 victors Electric Mayhem by knocking
them out in the semi-finals this time around. They then went on to defeat
the Thundering Herd in the final - the Herd's first appearance in a
Championship game. Whilst they will be disappointed with a 13-3 defeat,
there's no doubt that once the Herd get a taste for something they always
come back for more, so the top of the Mixed is going to be very interesting
in the next two matchdays.

Don't forget to enter MD3 - entry deadline is 23 December (early because of
Christmas!).
