Dear Britdisc,
Firstly a big thankyou to all the organisers at MT1 and everyone taking part
for making it a great event despite the weather.
A point on future mixed tours - With the continued growth of mixed tour it
seems that tournaments are always going to be oversubscribed. The committee
has the final say on who's in and who's not and I don't know the methods they
use to do this.
Could I suggest that they look at team rosters from MT1 and give preference to
real mixed teams. At the weekend I played against a team who only had 3 women,
this is surely not encouraging mixed ultimate. I would far prefer to see 2nd
and 3rd teams who can put out truly mixed teams, ie. at least 6 women, rather
than 1st teams who are bunch of guys who have to suffer the inconvenience of
trying to find a couple of women from somewhere to play pickups and often not
managing. It seems ridiculous to contemplate going to a mixed tour with only 4
women - you wouldn't go to an open tour with only 7 players and hope no-one
dropped out or got injured.
