I'm surprised no one else has pointed this out (or do we all sleep past 8 on Saturdays....)
But BBC1 had a short piece on Ultimate on Saturday morning, around 7:40am on the BBC Breakfast programme It was footage taken at Mixed Tour 1, focusing on Leeds The announcer talked a little about the game and showed a few short clips from the Leeds A v Leeds B game. Interviews with one of the Leeds players (sorry, don't know all your names) who talked a bit about the game. It also showed the BBC guy running a drill, talking about how difficult it is to catch while running, etc. It was mentioned that Leeds were going to Worlds in Australia, but the announcer mentioned that MT1 was eventually won by 'a group of friends who started playing together on Clapham Common...' interesting description of Iceni-Fire There was a short line or 2 from Maria as well if I remember correctly about how you don't need much equipment to play, so its easy to start. All in all it wasn't bad, but could have shown game dynamics more - It also talked about catching a lot, when I would think you could impress people more by showing good throws. It didn't give any real impression of the field size as well, which would have helped show just how much running is involved. If I remember, it also didn't really explain how the game was played in all that much detail. Still, its BBC1 coverage.... I believe next week he focuses on underwater hockey... -Justin P.S. I tried to tape it to VHS, I don't know if I can convert it to anything digital but will look into it. __________________________________________________ BritDisc mailing list [email protected] http://zion.ranulf.net/mailman/listinfo/britdisc Staying informed - http://www.ukultimate.com/informed.asp
