Hello BD,

For anyone that's eager to get a fuller understanding of the Ladder
League and how it'll affect your club, read below and visit the
National & Regional websites of last season's University Ladder League
at http://www.seultimate.org/ull/ .

The league is designed to be particularly flexible so it will be able
to support a variety of the individual needs of clubs, divisions, and
regions. For example, EMO went around the country to play a bunch of
friendlies in preparation for the Open Tour this year
(http://www.emo-ultimate.org.uk) against Fire, Bristol, Leeds and
Chevy - all of these games could in future be entered into the Ladder
League system, not only for prosperity, but to be reflected in the
National league table, and spur similarly placed teams on to arranging
their own friendlies, and playing more Ultimate.
The last few years have seen Women's "All-Star" games increasing in
popularity, with around six teams attending each event - very similar
to the University Ladder League events last year - and this years
league table could essentially provide an up-to-date record & ranking
of all the participating women's teams.
Paul's recent email about Taunton Ultimate and their upcoming friendly
'fixtures' - submit the results to the Ladder League and Taunton will
suddenly have something solid to show for themselves, and motivation
to play more. This year in the South-East, new team Roehampton
spotted the league and ended up playing 23 games in as many weeks,
losing 18 of them but finishing 5th, a credit to the activity they
showed throughout the season and their thirst for Ultimate.
We've all heard about Liam's situation with the juniors - by using the
Ladder League system, it could be a simple process of adding the
highschool teams to the Junior Division via the website, playing the
games, and then submitting the results online - bingo, an up and
running Junior league, with a website and a huge potential for
expansion, as new teams from anywhere in the country can see what's
going on, add themselves to the website, and get playing Regional
Junior Ultimate.

It's all terribly exciting. I'll be wandering around with a Mohawk
this weekend most likely, catch me if you've some thoughts, my ears
are open.
