why does it matter that there is no plate? name another sport where you get a trophy for finishing anything other than first and second? you're arguing about not receiving a plate for finishing 9th. as far as i'm aware plate is top of bottom half so it';s only 9th in a tournament of 16, tour 3 plate should go to 11th york
It doesn't really matter - there's traditionally been a plate, though, for teams winning their group of 8 on a sunday. This gives everyone the chance to compete for something vaguely meaningful even if they get knocked out by a daft format ;)
Plate used to be given for 13th on the tour when the top 12 were separated - it's never been for 'top of the bottom half'.
Anyway, if there won't be plates and spoons and such from now on, then that's fine, but let people know - making sure someone stays for the presentation, when we've had to travel OVER 1,000 MILES total for EVERY tour this season, is a bit of a hassle. We'd quite like to get on the road early, you know. Not everyone lives on the south coast, despite the locations of this year's haplessly misnamed 'tour'.
