My thoughts similar to Kennee, and to buck my usual trend I don't fancy
letting what happens happen through acquiescence (an 80's child educated by the
Gallagher brothers you see)...
I'm sure the minutes of the meeting and reasons will be following shortly,
and as much as I am against complaining before the committees reasoning has
been made public, I am gonna do it anyway and add my voice to those in favour
of the continued split.
In my opinion the split Tour format has worked very well and has fulfilled
it's agenda...
To boringly reiterate, the fact that the split has been beneficial for new
players, students and ladies ultimate (apologies if anyone has good arguments
contrary to this - let's hear them!), as well as partitioning the Open and
Womens tournaments later in the year to enable squads to concentrate on their
independent training if desired... in particular this year with Worlds on the
horizon, but even without this each year the arguments stand for me at least,
I enjoyed a consistency in the style of Ultimate I was playing and
concentrating Mixed/Open events one after the other helped my consistency
within those events (my teams may disagree).
What process is in place or can be brought into action to appeal against this
decision? Or did we sign our lives away to the committee's best judgement? In
which case I guess more of us folk should consider being involved in the
running of our sport in future... and I semi-retract my criticism/point of view.
Anywho, I have rambled and added nothing new apart from a voice... let's not
let this discussion disappear to obscurity, but at the same time let's avoid
biting email retorts that offer no solution and merely vent frustration in an
utterly destructive way.
I don't mind being wrong and corrected, but cutting replies are (IMO) too
frequent on this list.
Whilst I'm at the keyboard for my (thankfully) annual greetings:
Big thanks to ALL the committee members and TDs this year, particularly Andy
Kayley and Ltd Release - a fantastic and exemplary tournament... Thanks to all
the teams we've had a set of fantastic games with, and every person involved in
the sport who enables it to exist.
Big luck for Nats. And go devastate in Oz!

Discuits
The fact that I am watching filth-filled Big Brother and posting on BritDisc
should probably be ignored to preserve the validity of my opinions ;-)
(Although I am only staying in to bolster and commiserate a recently broken up
friend... honest)
Big modern Whoop to JJ.

Wow - give it one year, get loads of positive feedback and then drop it.
I must say I'm surprised. Surprised and a little miffed.
I personally thought the split season was great. Playing mixed this year was
excellent there was more players, more teams and of a higher standard. Not only
that but having a concentrated season meant that teams could focus on mixed as
opposed to having their attentions split.
I think it is a crying shame to abandon what was a very successful trial so
early and can't think of a single valid reason for doing so.
