Quick answer to this - I'll put a more complete answer together on the insurance that the UKUA has and make it available on the website.
1. UKUA members have liability insurance like you describe when playing at specific UKUA tournaments (the Tour, Nationals, etc). This is one reason why its important that everyone competing in these tournaments is a UKUA member. 2. This can *potentially* be extended to other tournaments if the TD wants, provided they follow certain practices. My intention is to make this available for the outdoor season 2007. If you are a TD interested in this please contact me to let me know. 3. UKUA Membership does *not* provide players with cover at other tournaments or practices. 4. I believe a couple of people have looked into the question of insurance at practices - not sure they actually bought any insurance. The company that we get our insurance from (Perkins Slade) are able to do this for a club - but you probably have to meet certain criteria and follow some safety rules. I would like to find a way to extend the current arrangements the UKUA has with Perkins Slade to be able to offer clubs an easy way of doing this - but currently this isn't near the top of the priority list and will be a few months away I guess. So - in the meantime - if you want to be covered at practices you need to arrange something directly for your club. 5. There is an exception to this situation: UKUA Level 1 coaches *do* have 3rd party liability cover when coaching at practices. 6. As I said - I've been writing a simple document that explains the UKUA insurance so that it is a bit clearer what/who is covered, and when, etc. Given your question I'll aim to speed up completing that doc. I'd be really interested to hear from people who have looked into this sort of question with their club, as it would be great to make what you learnt available to everyone else (if thats ok with you). I hope this helps Si Simon Hill, UKUA Administrator Email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Skype: ukua.admin > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of JOE PIETRZAK > Sent: 14 December 2006 12:23 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [BD] Public Liability Insurance for Clubs > > Hello All, > > Do any other clubs have or have investigated Public Liability Insurance? > I'm sure this has been discussed before. > Can you get cover for personal injuries while at practice or tournaments? > Are members of the UKUA covered in anyway?
