Apologies if you get this multiple times - am sending to team contacts and britdisc - and I guess some of you are contact for >1 team. This is a big event and we are trying some new ideas... I guess some will work out better than others! General stuff: 1. 60 teams in 3 divisions on 22 fields :-) The teams are listed on the website: http://www.ukultimate.com/2007/06/22/ukua_tour_tour_1 2. Team-Gazebos - these are cross-tour gifts (i.e. intended for use at Tours 1-3) 3. Schedule updates and important information to your phone. Text "Ultimate <<TEAMNAME>>" to 07786 200350 before midday on Friday. Don't worry about having a standard team name - the last step at my end is semi-manual. Just make sure I can tell what team you are playing for. Do not include extra information. This will cost you the price of ONE TEXT and does NOT generate income to the UKUA. There is no confirmation response - sorry - but you can expect some initial info by end of Thursday. 4. Physio onsite (in addition to first aid). Clare is one of the physios that will be in Southampton to work with the GB squads. She will NOT provide tape, strapping, etc for PRE-EXISTING INJURIES - but if she has time I'm sure she will happy to provide advice about such injuries. 5. Additional parking in the same location as the additional fields (next door to Imperial). NB - if you park on Sipson Lane - keep your wheels off the pavement - the local traffic wardens use events like this to increase the borough's income! More instructions to follow. 6. GB players - very small amount of help please! The grounds staff and volunteer team will be working to keep the water bottles replenished. But we need support from GB players too please. Some proceeds from this event will go to cover costs of medical support for GB squads at EUC07. In return we'd like GB players to re-fill water where the tournament team isn't keeping up - and esp. in the A and Women's divisions. There are more than 100 GB players at this event. At most this means any individual will need to re-fill a water bottle once per day. 7. There is a ROAD seperating some of the fields from the clubhouse and the rest of the fields. Its small, and not busy - but the locals drive very quickly along this stretch. Please take care - and please warn your teammates to take care! Timings and Format/Schedule 1. Schedule to be released tomorrow (or maybe today if all seeding questions are resolved). It has a conditional formatting feature - so you can select your team from a drop down and see your Saturday games and possible Sunday games highlighted. 2. Saturday start time: brief captains meeting at 8:30am; play starts at 9am for 40 teams 3. Sunday play starts for some at 8:30 (ouch - sorry) 4. Women's final in lunchtime rest slot on Sunday - i.e. most teams can watch 5. Chevron v. Clapham 2 in show-game at the end of play on Saturday (cheap - £6 - pasta evening meal and bar onsite; game will be finished by 7pm). Chevron, Clapham - I'll be in touch with more info for you. 6. Open final starts at 15:45 on Sunday 7. B Tour format has a top 8 and then 5 pools of 4 for seeds 9-28. Format has been designed to enable one team from the bottom group to gain promotion if they can beat their way past the teams seeded above them. 8. Playing time has been maximised and there are back to back games. In particular teams in the lower section of the B tour that believe they are being asked to play too much (4 games of 70mins + cap on Saturday) are free to play 60mins+cap if BOTH teams agree. Stopwatches will be available. A similar option will be available to teams in Women's division (because these are still typically smaller than in Open). 9. Open semis and final and Women's final to be played with WFDF championship rules A6 (time limit between points), and A10 (new "delay of game" stall counts) 10. Option to report results by TEXT (this will be a different number to the one mentioned above). Pre-moan about rubbish I can't be the only player that has become increasingly embarrassed by the rubbish that most of us seem to leave by the side of an ultimate field after a game/tournament. I noticed that the guys running the Mixed Tour in Birmingham commented about this after their tournament this year - so I think we should start a campaign to improve the situation and ensure we do not give our game a bad name! Please pick up your rubbish! More updates will follow this week Si
