not a bad idea but certainly not infallible.
did anyone else notice that the sidelines - where people not playing a
point ran up and down - were perhaps the muddiest part of the pitch
area?

it was certainly the case between pitches 1 & 2 where we played on
Sunday morning. Also alongside pitch 4 it was such a quagmire that I
managed to slide so far out the side of the pitch that only a stone path
could provide enough friction to stop me (ouch).

Perhaps the easiest solution (without TD's having to predict the weather
and/or have extra marks put on in case) would be for teams to take
responsibility for this themselves.
i.e. if you cannot locate a brick mark on your pitch then - after the
1st time you've paced it out - mark the location on the sideline using
anything you choose (bag, bottle, injured sub, one of those stupid chavs
who kept nicking cones....)
