Hey BD,

I was at the tournament on Sunday and things were looking good.

The venue is fantastic, very good pitches, a little damp in places but
that's to be expected given the amount of rain, however they are
holding together well and the weather forecast looks promising for the
rest of the week.

First off the mark for GB were the Women, they had a very shaky start
with some nervous drops and many throw-aways. The O line got turned
and scored on in the very first point of the tournament, not the best
way to kick off. However they soon found their feet and playing some
nice fast flowing O and hard D and walked away with the second half.
17- 7 to GB

Mixed had a tough game against the mis seed Belgium team, they traded
to 10 -10 and then stepped up a gear. Winning 17-12.

Masters kicked Italy all over the park 17- 5

Juniors made a horrific start and were 10-1 down to Austria before
they even showed up.
They eventually lost 17-12 ish

The Open team were a complete machine against Ireland. The Paddy
Murphy boys told me afterwards that they thought that they had a 1 in
20 chance of catching GB on an off day and everything firing for them,
but yesterday was not that day. GB started on D, got the turn and the
score without turning over, they repeated this process 9 times before
they made any sort of mistake. Awesome. 17- 2 ish

GB women were the only GB team to play twice with a great performance
against Germany in the show game. They came out of the trap very hot
and dominated the first half. The second half was a more balanced
affair and GB made a few uncharacteristic errors, but their lead was
big enough and Germany didn't have any answer to their hard running.
17 - 14 ish.

There is more information on the EUC website, which is now running
nicely. www.euc2007.org
