There are a number of compromises that are made whilst trying to design the schedule. In order to get the most balanced good format and schedule it is necessary that teams play back to back games sometimes.
Whilst some people do complain about back to back games, there are also plenty of players that are perfectly happy - and even prefer - to play back to back games. Although the scheduling team have had a few issues with this tournament (mostly caused by me insisting that the women's format be re-written yesterday afternoon) I think overall the idea of creating the Scheduling team has worked pretty well so far this year. In fact - I'm hoping that the next stage of development (i.e. for next year's tournaments) will be to quiz teams on their preferences (e.g. like/don't like back to backs; like watching the final / don't care; etc etc) - and then attempt to tailor schedules to team preferences if/where possible. Clearly we don't know to what extent we can make this work - but we hope to try!
