Hi We would like to expand on the success of the Scheduling group and spread out the involvement and responsibility for making decisions about the UKUA competition structures. We would also like to reduce the workload on the DoC. To this end we want to appoint a Competition Committee which would include people who are keen to be involved in discussing and deciding questions like: - what are the next steps in the evolution of our competition structure (e.g. should we have a mixed nationals?) - what the calendar ought to look like, - how we handle things like qualification to international club competitions, and so on
It is not intended that this group would make many (if any) changes for 2008 - but would look further ahead initially. The scheduling group would work with this team, but would not necessarily include the same people. In fact it would be tough to be very involved in both I think. If you are interested in getting involved please let me know. You should assume that the email load will at times be relatively high. I will also want to ensure the group meets face to face at least once a year - so will probably want a commitment to be to the annual conference. We dont have a fixed size in mind: that will depend on who is interested, although it will be not be very big. Its not an elected group and so the aim will be to appoint a cross-section of players. In other words we want people from all divisions. We are also reviewing the process for awarding UKUA events. It is unlikely that the Competitions Committee own that task.
