I had assumed that EUCS was intended to run in the
three off-years between EUCC.

To me, it would make sense to have EUCF events for
three years, when no other european club competition
is available (obviously excepting copenhagen etc) and
then in every fourth year revert to the EUCC.

I say this because I dont really see how EUCC would
differ dramatically from an EUCF event, with the
exceptions being the importnant draw/need to have a
mixed tournament and also that every country gets to
send representatives rather than relying on
qualification through a regionals which risk one
country (ie GB clubs taking all three spots this year)
dominating.

Whilst the EUCF is aimed at elite development, the
EUCC gives you the chance to become the "official"
European champions - im not taking away from clapham's
achievements in making two finals in a row and winning
EUCF this year - but it seems a shame to potentially
scrap the opportunity to win the prestigious title.

And as was said, EUCF has no Mixed division - i think,
until EUCF grows enough to host a mixed event as well,
either on a separate weekend or alongside, then the
EUCC should stay, at least for 2009. Then by 2013,
things might/should have developed sufficiently to
maybe dispense with EUC, and make the yearly EUCFs the
ones to go to to secure the euro champs title.

I can see EUCC becoming redundant eventually, but i
just think scrapping the 2009 event doesnt make sense
just yet.

Incidentally, opening a side debate, would a mixed
EUCF division alongside the open and womens be
detrimental? Or make clubs focus in either open/womens
or mixed? If it was alongside, more people would be
able to play and develop, rather than the same players
from Fire and Iceni (just an example, no finger
pointing) combining into IF to try for glory in both
divs....

Is club focus on mixed vs open needed/possible yet?

***

anyway, my thoughts, off the top of my head. Please
dont bite it off, its been a long day - but
constructive responses are welcomed...
