Hello everyone,

I'm please to announce that we are going to attempt to run the cup
competition I emailed about last year. I've not done the research; but this
may well be the only cup competition available in this country so if your
team is up for something a little bit different please sign up! Here is the
low-down so far:

The Taunton Open
This is to be a straight knock-out cup competition (FA cup style) but with a
few changes to make it work for our sport. The starting team numbers will
either be 16 or 32 (dependant on speed of response to this email). There is
NO fee to enter the early rounds! That said you should plan to be available
for the final weekend in Taunton (Somerset the home of cider) on the weekend
of August 16-17 2008. There will be a charge at some point in the
competition for teams which will be attending the finals weekend which will
have a mini-tournament on the Saturday with party and camping for all teams
attending. This will be followed by a slow start Sunday (so you could sleep
in, go shopping, take a walk, go to church or do whatever you like). All
teams will get free entry to the final on the Sunday afternoon which will
hopefully be in a small rugby or football stadium. The final will be open to
the public and will be a great event and most definitely good PR with at the
very least local press coverage.

Here is the important information, the rest will be provided if you sign up!

How to Enter

This competition is aimed at OPEN TEAMS! **If you are a
student team, please register interest but I'm hoping to make up the numbers
with the open teams**

You may roster between 7 and 14 team members in your squad **these players
are not permitted to change throughout the competition and the team fielded
must be the named and numbered team**
If you have not got a full 14 at the start you may roster between 7 and 13
and make up the numbers by a cut off date to be set

Please email me your request to be involved and most importantly, please
register at least ONE team member on the event on the UKUA website!
If possible, please also sign up on the Facebook group as this will allow me
to email out information efficiently.

Ok, that is all the information I'm putting in this email; hope it has
inspired you to help us make this happen rather than just boring you!

Thanks for reading,
Paul Wittle.
