Britdisc, Please can someone forward this to the Women's list. Last weekend saw the Damme Slamme take place in Nottingham.
This unique Women's Ultimate event in the indoor calendar was much enjoyed by all that attended. It also received more press attention than any previous Nottingham tournament, having articles in the Local news paper, the BBC website both locally and nationally, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/7219975.stm and a live piece on Radio Nottingham. We also had Nottingham Trent Uni media students come down to the tournament to do mock radio and TV interviews for their degrees. Hopefully we'll be able to get a copy of them and put it up on a website somewhere for you all to see. Blockstack.tv had a camera running all day and the highlights will be included in the next episode. The Damme Slamme was run in conjunction with the GB women, who were most helpful and enthusiastic all weekend. On both days they ran the food stall, and on Sunday they took on the role of captains for each of the hat teams. Damme Slamme is essentially two one day tournaments in a weekend, with Saturday allowing the teams to play as a team and the Sunday giving them the opportunity to play with the GB women and meet new players as part of hat teams. 14 GB women bolstered by some experienced ex-GB players took charge of the hat teams, as well as providing coaching, training tips, tactical advice, and sessions on visualisation and mental toughness. You can find out more about the GB women at http://www.gbwomensultimate.com/ The Saturday night party was one of the best we've had in Nottingham for some time. http://www.tom-styles.co.uk/ultimate/v/2008/Damme+Slamme/Party/ The results for the Saturday tournament are below 1 York 2 Sublime 3 Haze 4 Ltd Release 5 MuBu 6 Boogie Queens 7 Phat ed's 8 Duffettes 9 Strange Aye (Plate) 10 No Ball Allowed 11 Arctic 1 12 Random Fling 13 Mwnci Wench 14 Halcyon 15 Arctic 2 (Spoon) 16 Arctic Pickup Spirit Prize of £80 of donated Lookfly vouchers went to Strange Aye Sunday's Hat was won by Sophie Watson's team Straw Hat. http://www.tom-styles.co.uk/ultimate/v/2008/Damme+Slamme/Final+and+Sideline/ Most improved player prize of £20 of donated Lookfly vouchers went to Vicky from Straw Hat There was also a prize draw for a Nintendo DS and a sight training game which was won by Emily Harford.
