Indeed, players/captains should invest a little time into foreward thinking.

Most people that have been to a few tournaments know what to expect, and
know what to bring.
Most things are 'shareable' between the team, so each team will only need
one bottle of suncream, one pair of nail clippers, one can of bug spray (a
sensible captain will bring these for the team). If you're going to a winter
league event, you'll probably take a bin bag to put your backpack in to
protect it from the rain, why not just keep a couple of binbags in your
backpack all the time so that you can clear up your teams litter after each
game? Whilst you're at it, you could put a spare 2l water bottle in your bag
in case its needed for when the sun comes out.

...not too difficult really.
