BD,
a few weeks ago 10 of us played an exhibition game at half-time of the Wolves v
Plymouth match at Molineux (for those that are interested Wolves won 1-0!). We
played 5-on-5 width-ways across the pitch in one half while subs etc used the
other half.
It was really well received by the crowd, staff and the players - many of
themĀ I spoke to were impressed that we play 6 or more games of upwards of 90
minutes in a weekend! Feedback I've had from players, staff and clients is that
it was one of the better half-time 'entertainments' we've had and we are
looking at doing it again during next season, potentially during a game that
Sky Sports are showing.
I wrote a bit of information to go in the matchday programme and a link to the
UKUA site was also read out over the stadiums PA system while we played. It
changed quite a few people's perceptions of Ultimate and helped raise the
profile of the sport to alot of people in one go - the attendance was 26,293!
Most clubs, not just football but rugby also, are crying out for new and
interesting things to have during half-time. It wasn't hard to organise at all,
try contacting your local club and see if they'll be interested for next
season. If nothing else it gives you the chance to play infront of thousands of
people!
