========================================================== Ahmedabad Ultimate seeks 6 summer interns to serve as Ultimate Frisbee coaches and more as we coordinate, publicize, and manage month-long summer camps during school vacation from May-July 2009. Our goal during the summer of 2009 is to train several groups of youth (ages 18+) to learn how to play Ultimate and simultaneously to learn how to coach. For this, we seek mature, experienced coaches with a significant Ultimate Frisbee background and a desire to transform communities through sport. *Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:* - Recruit local coach-players - Host exhibition matches - Create a coaching curriculum that includes skills, sportsmanship, and spirit of the game - Maintain an official blog - Organize tournaments at end of summer camps with press coverage - Build camaraderie around concept of sports-leadership *Requirements:* - Competitive college-level Ultimate Frisbee experience - Demonstrates coaching experience/aptitude - Some background in Gujarati or Hindi ideal - Willingness to immerse in the community - Cultural sensitivity or appreciation for nuance - Willingness to follow Indicorps handbook & principles - Energetic, enthusiastic coaching style - Abilities to promote fair play and support healthy competition *Logistics* – Summer 2009 internships will have two start dates: 18 May 2009 and 1 June 2009. All internships will end on 25 July 2009 (exceptions must be cleared prior to acceptances). Internships are unpaid. Interns will follow a 5-day work week. Due to the heat, Ultimate Frisbee coaches will concentrate coaching efforts in the mornings, evenings, and weekends. * Documentation* – Interns will be required to provide weekly assessments about the progress and development of his/her project(s). Writing opportunities will provide time to reflect on your internship as well as your contribution to service in India. You will be asked to write a short close-out document regarding your project(s) and your learnings.
