Hi BritDisc,

Following on a previous email regarding spirit scores, I would like to ask if there are general guidelines as to how to fill in the spirit scores (I'm referring to the "WFDF BULA Spirit of the Game scoresheet" used at Tour 0)?

I ask this, because I have noticed that there have been different interpretations of the score scale (i.e. 0,1,2).

Whereas some teams will give an average of 8 out of 16 to games that were considered normal (i.e. no major issues, good overall spirit, good mood, but also nothing worthwhile mentioning), some others will score the same game at the 12/13 level.

Is it not the case that a game that does not have major incidents, where there were not many calls nor "physical" bids and people were generally amicable, should be scored 1 all the way? I saw people giving 2s in sections such as "Positive attitude", "Avoiding body contact", "Avoiding Violations and Fouls" and "Knowledge of the Rules", in games where there were almost no calls nor "hard bids" (more typical of less tight games).

I am raising this issue because with the new system, people perceive spirit scores as being more accurate and I suspect that this dual criterion might be falsifying this outcome.

PS: These are my personal views and not those of my club.
