That's about the size of it. 6 for those who finish 1-4, not necessarily those who start 1-4.

Those starting 33-40 have 6, and 41-50 have 7 also.

So am I correct in thinking that 1-4 have 6 games and 5-32 (previous A and B)
will have 7 games?

Subject: [BD] Tour 1 Format

BD,

A few notes on the format of Open T1 2009. We won't be running the A/B/C tour
format, so here's a little explanation of what we are doing, and why we're
doing it. The longer term plan is to tighten the format at each tour, so that
anyone in the top 32 can win T1, top 16 can win T2, top 8 can win Nationals
(T3) - this is because one would expect the seeding to be more and more
accurate as we go on, so we can write schedules with tighter peer pools as we
go along.

The format will be :

Opening round: North v South 1-32.
(Actually, 1v30, 2v32, 3v31 etc to make all the match-ups North v South) The
reasons for this are as follows.
1) we wanted to have a North v South x-over for at least 13-20, since the top
16 is the place to be and the separate Tour 0s make this boundary poorly seeded.
2) if we do that for those teams but not the rest of the top 16, we have issues
with rested vs unrested teams later on, so we should make the top
12 play a game also.
3) the 1-32 round at Nationals has often been popular (more so with the lower
teams perhaps), won't be happening this year at Nationals, and is being done
now to provide the opportunity for lower teams to experience games against the
top flight.

Followed by
Top 16 - 4 pools of 4
17-24 - 2 peer pools of 4
25-40 - 4 pools of 4
41-50 - 2 pools of 5

which allows significant movement across the important 32/33 barrier...

Followed by:

Top 4 - SF & F

5-12, 13-20, 21-28, 29-36, 37-44 - QF, SF & F

45-50 1 pool of 6, carrying over the results from Saturday - e.g. you play
against whichever teams you haven't played yet, meaning 3 games, no rematches.

The top 16 finishers will be invited to T2 Brighton, and those below to
T2 Birmingham.

Cheers,
Benji
