Leamington Lemmings, Royal Leamington Spa’s only Ultimate Frisbee
team, turns three this year. From the tiny acorns planted by one Lucas
Hillson one sunny September in 2006, the team has grown, developed and
flourished at an astronomical rate and now boasts a throng of
achievements that are really quite impressive for an ultimate club
still in its relative infancy. As has been seen with their Tour form
this year, Leamington Lemmings are more than a force to be reckoned
with and have truly made their presence felt by getting to the Open B
Tour semi final and a marvellous top 16 finish at Mixed Tour.

The Lemmings have a fully elected committee that prove time and time
again that they are willing to go above and beyond for their needs
team. This is represented by the sheer number of tournaments that you
will see the familiar black and white shirts of Leamington being worn
proudly and always showcasing the very best in the spirit of the game,
as proven by spirit wins at Sunburn, LUCRE and Great Barr Crawl.

Here at the Leamington Lemmings we accept all comers, from the young
to the old (We love you Unky P) and from the vastly experienced to the
people that have never picked up a disc before. We just want to convey
our love of Ultimate to all and sundry that will give us the time of
day and if you have ever been to one of our vibrant and vivacious
training sessions, you will certainly realise that sentiment to be
true.

There is also a very strong coaching base providing the infrastructure
of the team that helps beginners and newcomers to the team find their
feet and up their game quicker than they ever thought possible. For
instance, regulars such as Charlie (predominantly from Evolution) and
Rachel ‘Pammer’ McCulloch are enjoying being part of GB 2nds. The
possibilities are endless when if comes to our Ultimate team, so who
knows were YOU might end up.

Already in our short life as an ultimate team we have staged the very
well renowned, revered and celebrated Leamington Luau where we
accommodate both experienced and beginners’ teams and also the LUCRE
tournament, which they won, where all the proceeds for the tournament
went to providing aid for Cancer Research. We aren’t just a team that
plays our sport well, but a team that cares deeply about causes in our
community.

Not even the continent is safe from the Lemmings wrath as for the past
couple of years they have taken at least two teams to the wonderful
Burla Beach Cup tournament in Viareggio, Italy. So if marrying the
wonderful game of Ultimate with the beautiful sun kissed beaches of
Italia sounds like magic to you, we are ready to welcome you with open
arms to our team. Incidentally, it is more than worth mentioning that
out of all the teams in our division in the 2008 tournament, they came
3rd in spirit, once again proving their fantastic spirit credentials
and being perfect ambassadors for UK ultimate.

With regular Open A tour players now regularly attending their
training sessions who know what dizzy heights these bunch of talented
rascals will reach next year? Could Fire of London and Chevron Action
Flash’s days be numbered? Well, who knows, but what is a certainty is
that this dedicated bunch of lads and lasses intend to make an even
bigger impression this coming year.

See you all at a tournament soon!
