Hello London,

It’s that time again! If like me you feel like you’ve only just mentally
recovered from the summer league party at the Bedford last year, then you’ll
be pleasantly surprised to know that it’s time to enter your team again for
the London Summer League 2010!

Important Info:

League Starts May 12th and finishes mid August. We will confirm the final’s
night asap but just tying up a few loose ends with regards to venue.

Gender split is 5 men and 2 women. You are welcome to play more than 2 women
if you wish but 2 is the minimum.

Games will be at Balham and Clissold Park and will take place on Wednesday
and Thursday nights as usual.

We will be running a cup and league in a similar format to last year with
crossovers at the start to decide league seedings.

£335 per team. (give or take this works out at about £2.25 a player per game
– I know it sounds a lot!). ALL profits go back into the sport!

All team players MUST be UKUA members as in Winter League. We’ll send out
more information about this but please understand that we're trying to
balance making the league as accessible as possible, while still trying to
protect the players and organisers.

We would LOVE to see new teams set themselves up so please let us know if we
can help make this happen. Perhaps you want to set up a work team but aren’t
sure about how to organise it? Or you fancy getting your friends to play but
need a hand coaching? We can help you with these things. Please just drop me
a line.

For those of you without a team, we will try and set up a pick up team for
each location. This is basically where we put lots of people together who
don’t have a team and suddenly their common problem is solved! It’s a great
way of meeting new people, playing Ultimate with folk from all round the
world and rediscovering the joy of pick up! Get in touch if you are keen.

Finally, I’m looking for a few generous volunteers who fancy helping out any
development teams we have in the league. Last year we had a few coaches
playing for teams which worked really well. If you are a coach, you CAN play
for two teams so it doesn’t mean you have to stop playing for your normal
team. It just means you have to try and organise playing for both. The coach
position is designed to not just have people playing for two teams, its aim
is to encourage experienced players to pass on their skills to teams who
might otherwise struggle a bit. If this sounds interesting then please let
me know. Alternatively, if you run a team and could do with some coaching
help then email me and I might be able to match you up with a generous
volunteer or two.

We love the summer league and it seems that lots of you feel the same way.
Now is the time to raise any things you think might improve how things are
done. If you have any ideas then drop me a line.

The clock is ticking people. Dust off your thai dye t-shirts, dig out your
astro boots and go find your party straws. Summer league is coming!

Reply to his email and I will send you an entry form and then its time to
start recruiting!

Cheers,

Dan.
