Subject: [WFDFMemberLink] Turkey

Hi all,

Can you please distribute within your national associations (in Europe),
and also on eurodisc, if you haven't already?

Skippy and I have been in close dialogue with Levent Akis from Turkey, who
is promoting a very first training camp and beach ultimate tournament in
Turkey, targetted at universities, in what appears to be a pretty beautiful
village on the shores of the Mediterranean.

He has been working very hard to promote ultimate in Turkey, and with some
success in terms of media and a lot of interest from universities and
schools. They have set up a fledgling national association, Ucandisk, and
they hope to apply for WFDF membership later this year. Note: I am hoping
to try to fly to the tournament myself, but WFDF hasn't officially endorsed
the event.

Here's there national association site (in Turkish, but it has links where
you can see some stuff they've been doing, including newspaper stories):

What he really needs is experienced players from Europe to come along and
help develop ultimate in Turkey. It's a chance to be a part of something
new and exciting, and make new friends, and play ultimate somewhere that
looks pretty amazing.

There are two aspects to the camp:
- coaching course 28-30 July
- beach ultimate tournament (a hat, I think) 31 July-1 August

Maybe you can only make it for the beach tournament, that would still be
great! Bring a team of people!

Get in contact with Levent directly through the website if you're
interested, and feel free to let me know that you're coming. I haven't
even looked into transport or airfares, but I'm confident it's not too
difficult.

Paul Ericsson has been looking into sorting out the coaching side of
things. I'll find out about that and update you ASAP if we need more help
there.

Thanks,

--
