GB Open is holding the first of two tryouts towards selection of its 2011-2012 squad on the weekend of 09-10 October 2010.
Recognizing that, more so that in any of the previous selection years, there is now a huge pool of talented players across the whole of GB, these tryouts will be walk-in and we encourage players from any club to come and match themselves up against the best. Juniors and under 23s (over 18s only) are encouraged to come to the trials. Selection will be based on skill and athleticism, as well as in-play vision and timing. On day one, players will be put through a series of specific drills which will allow selectors to grade them according to their skill and/or potential. On day two, a considerable time will be spent on providing players with some basic marking, throwing and cutting drills in an effort to lift the skill base of the squad during the off season. An initial cut will be made after the first trials and players will be personally invited to the second tryout weekend (date tbc - but probably 30-31 Oct).
