Dear Ultimate Community, Hopefully this email will achieve two things. Firstly, to give those who are interested a bit of background on some of the projects that UK Ultimate is involved in and the one in particular that I am appealing for help with called "yoUR Activity". Secondly is to ask for some help in delivering this project and future projects.
So here is a bit of a background for you. yoUR Activity is a project that the Youth Sport Trust are running across a number of school sports partnerships in England with their commercial partner Mataln. The idea of the project is to offer different sports that are non-traditional in a schools curriculum, then create a social club where young people can be active and play this sport. If you want to know more about the project as a whole then please read the page linked below. Part of the project requires that we show these schools what Ultimate is all about. There are going to be four national "inspire" days at different locations across the country and these are our opportunity to showcase Ultimate. Along with other sports, we will take part in these large events to showcase Ultimate and talk to pupils, staff and volunteers about how good Ultimate is and why they should choose it for their school! For now I am asking for people who would be able to help volunteer their time for these days. We don't necessarily need "coaches" (though if you are a qualified coach, great) just keen player or former players who can throw a disc or talk about ultimate. You don't need to have experience working with young people (though if you do, excellent!). Obviously, you need to be enthusiastic about Ultimate as I'm hoping that our enthusiasm will encourage people to give it a go. I would also love to hear from anyone who is involved in free-style and disc golf that may have some time to give. The project is not completely about Ultimate, just the large proportion.
