It might be worth me, before we get any closer to UWIN and UMIN, reiterating
the criteria for pickups. I sent out my perspective on them in an email in
October (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/uniultimate/message/5169), so this is
not news in any way. Just a semi-friendly reminder.

Pickups are an absolutely last resort, and not in any way a luxury. If you
have girls at your University [is it ever not girls?], you should definitely
ask all of them, including people who have never played frisbee or any sort
of organised sport before, before dreaming of finding a player studying
elsewhere. And please, please fathom not the possibility of someone who
isn't actually student.

Eligibility and pickups criteria exist, are vital, and aren't going
anywhere. What I have put into these emails wholly takes precedent over any
unwritten rule you might think is floating around. Assume nothing, and if
you have any doubts, email me in advance of the tournaments. To not do so
will bring about a world of pain, up to and including disqualification from
whatever future University tournaments I deem fit. I will do *everything* to
prevent that happening, as it's absolutely the last step I want to take, but
I'm not going to treat you guys like children. If it's required in order to
kill the laissez-faire attitude surrounding this topic then it's a step I
will not hesitate before taking. Maybe the easiest way of thinking about it
is that every Uni team is on a yellow card.

If I, Sam The Mixed Guy and Felix The Womens Chap receive no further emails
in advance of the tournaments then we'll assume that everything's
hunky-dorey, and any uncovered breach will be considered deliberate. There
can be no excuses, and should my wrath fall it will be with great vengeance
and fuuuuuuuuuurious anger.

Again - if you have even the slightest doubt, get in touch.

Yours,
Edd
PS. Emailed to BritDisc too because I don't contact those guys outside the
bubble often enough, as well as there might be some stragglers on there who
aren't on the UniUltimate Yahoo! Group mailing list. If that's you and
you've no idea what the UniUltimate mailing list is, go here and learn and
sign up: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/uniultimate/
PPS. The Pulp Fiction reference is evidence that I'm not always grumpy.
