Hi Folks,

Congratulations go to Gertlush for winning the first West Coast Fours on
Croyde Beach. The tournament was held as part of the Gold Coast Oceanfest
music festival and hosted on behalf of the Academy of Beach Sports by Lion
Forty Four.

Eight teams came out to enjoy to the sand in Cloyde and the sun even came to
join the party. No cross-overs made for a tough schedule that had teams
bringing their A-Game from the start. Cupbowl! went through to the
Semi-finals as top seed after dominating their pool however, Organic found
class after finishing second in their pool to squeeze through to the final
with a 5-4 win. Meanwhile Gertlush lined up against Lemon Brizzle Cake in a
Bristol Darby to play for the second spot in the final. Gertlush eased
through with a 7-4 win to secure a place against Organic.

The placing games had Disc-o Vs Badfish in the people's final. The family
connections in Badfish pulled together after an epic 10 minute point to see
the teams 2-2 with only 1 minute to go. 1 quick point set the teams up for
an exciting finish where Disc-o could have forced a Sudden Death point but
some superb defence from Badfish secured 7th place. Sandy Coloured Lions
met the other half of Disc-o-Biscuits, appropriately named Biscuits in a
rematch from the pool stage that had gone to Biscuits. Coming out strong
Lions scored the first & second points and with a little luck lined up a
strong lead at 3-0. Biscuits came back with grit and determination to put
three on the board but Lions hung in there for a 5-3 win.

The 3rd/4th Play Off was one of the best games of the day with a wealth of
experience from GB Beach Masters rich teams. The game traded until time
when it was 3 points a piece. Only the second Sudden Death point of the day
to separate the them and both teams put on the show for the sidelines. But
when all the disk were thrown 3rd place went to Lemon Brizzle Cake.

The final had a show down from two underdogs who had both regrouped after
finishing second in their pools. Organic brought an energetic Ultimate that
had over thrown many before, but Gertlush brought out the big guns. The
thrower lead offence, placing the disc near perfectly out in front of their
players to go and get, showed the young pretenders that you 'take what you
get given'. Gertlush pulled out a cushioned lead that Organic's never say
die attitude couldn't come back from. In the end the honers went to
Gertlush.
