Hi BritDisc,

I'm attempting to put together a doc that will (hopefully) show us where we
are strongest and subsequently weakest around the UK, in terms of
development of the sport.

I simply want to know a few things about our clubs. After all,
without government funding it is our clubs that will inevitably have to lead
the development of the game. Or so I believe.

Please help me by only answering the questions I ask *=D* if you want to
send me a separate email with other information, then please do!

I want to know about the following three: Clubs, School Clubs & University
Clubs.

*Name of Club:*
*Does your club have a development role:*
*If so, what are the contact details:* *(please expect these contact details
to be used by both the UKU and to be given to "external" third parties such
as sports development officers) *
*Are you currently involved with local development of some sort:*
*If so, briefly what does it involve:* *example "we run taster sessions and
open sessions every Tuesday in November. We advertise these sessions at
local sports venues and leisure centres. We have run coaching in a local
after school club"*
*Where is the club based/represent: **example "University of Make Believe,
Manchester" or "Make Believe High School, London" or "Crewe" *

Please note: I'm not looking for you to supply me with details about your
open sessions or information about your clubs ability to take on new
players. I'm looking for information about; if your club is able to handle
being referred on to people who contact the *UKU*. If your club is able (and
wants) to support the *UKU* in its aspirations to develop Ultimate in a
local area through a formal strategy. Though I'm not actually asking people
to reply to this paragraph formally with a yes or no. And replying to the
above questions won't answer this paragraph either. It's food for thought
mostly.

In a quick attempt to manage expectations: I'm not saying we already have a
formal strategy for clubs to plug in to, we do not. I am simply attempting
to gain a measurable overview of what the possible capability of our clubs
is like, to *perhaps* adopt a national strategy some time in the future.

However there are plenty of things that can be done now to help things
along! See below.

One of the first things clubs can look to do is consider their current
policy on young people attending their sessions.
Did you know that *UK Ultimate* supplies a Safeguarding document that clubs
can simply sign to adopt. Obviously you need to implement the policy and
understand it too. But this has been done in an attempt to make having
junior players at open clubs, easier.

NB: If you have a policy, we are not asking you to adopt ours.

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely, Liam Kelly
