Goooood afternoon everyone, Hopefully those who have Freshers Fayres and things going on are having them go well. The following is an email that I've sent for each of the last couple of years and it's pretty straight-forward and hopefully won't be new news for anyone.
Coming up quite soon is Uni Open Indoor Regionals, and then Open Indoor Nationals. And next year is the same, but Outdoors. In order to play for any team in any stage in any of these competitions there are many complicated criteria you must meet, myriad boxes to tick as it were: (I realise that it's fiddly, so I'll go slowly and clearly.) a) you must be a student of that University/institute. Aaaand we're done. If you're not a student, you are ineligible to play. If you are a student, you are only able to play for the place at which you are enrolled to study. In Open competition, you can't just decide that you'd rather play for someone else. And if your team doesn't have enough for Open competition, then you can't get pickups from other places. Unfortunate? Yes. Necessary? Even more yes. We do not distinguish between Regionals and Nationals. We do not distinguish between the group stage of a tournament, and the knockout stage. If you are eligible, then you are eligible for the whole thing. So if you are ineligible... well, anyone want to hazard? Deciding to dodge around what I say will render a thousand poxes upon your houses. An actual thousand. If there is even the slightest shadow of doubt as to what the situation for yourself or teammate is, get in touch. It would be quite catastrophic to assume everything is fine, and for it not to be. I am *entirely* happy getting 50 emails in the next hour starting "Can I just confirm...". There is no question too silly to check about, there is only silly people who don't check. Yours, Edd PS. Hayley and Megan will be along in due course regarding the Mixed and Womens criteria. __________________________________________________ BritDisc mailing list [email protected] http://www.fysh.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/britdisc Staying informed - http://www.ukultimate.com/staying-informed
