An invitation to anyone interested to come play some ultimate, watch the Olympic Torch, have a BBQ and maybe even get on TV :-)
St Albans Ultimate & YMCA in Stevenage are both running Ultimate showcase events to coincide with the Olympic Torch passing by. Stevenage is in the morning / early afternoon followed by St Albans in the later afternoon. You're welcome to either or both :-) St Albans are running a regular training session just before the Torch session starts which people are welcome to as well. Stevenage Timings: 10:30am players and volunteers arrive for ‘team brief’ by dave green 11am - 2pm outdoors session torch arrives at top of Stevenage @ 11am and passes through @ 12:45pm Plan: 15-25min demo game 5min throwing skills 10min join in game with public Rinse & repeat. Location : King George V playing Fields, Stevenage. Look for the 4 blue YMCA flags and a blue gazebo. Parking will be easiest at the Tesco Car Park not too far away (3hr limit) as there are some closed roads around. It's a 3 min walk to the rec ground from my house so you can park outside (17 Salisbury Avenue, AL1 4UB). There will be rolling road closures as the Olympic Torch passes so expect the road to be closed about 10mins before the torch passes until about 5 mins after. Please bring: - St Albans Kit or a Yellow and a Blue t-shirt - Money or BBQ food & drink (if staying) - Your game face (always needed) If you can only make part of the day then try to make it for the time around the Olympic Torch 2-5pm as this really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get some publicity!
