Hi Britdisc,

Soar again.

In case you missed it: on Monday introduced ourselves; and yesterday we told you about our planned events for this year.

Today we want to talk about stories. Specifically, your stories.

This awesome community of ours is full of incredible stories. I’m not just talking about the time you and your teammates ate that guy’s phone, or the time you lost all your clothes at British Thumber Time (we know that feel).

I’m talking about the stories that make up your ultimate life right now:

• The controversial upsets at the local warm up games you have with local rivals before the main events • The last minute injuries which means your team has to change its plays the day before the event • That guy who just started playing two months ago but is already schooling your A-Tour D line captain • That new school teams you’ve just started coaching, and how much those kids are looking forward to junior regionals
• How you’re keeping your hucks during the long cold indoor season

As ultimate players we love sharing these stories, and can easily spend a whole weekend just talking ultimate with our team and others.

Ultimatum is a superb resource for documenting a year in the life of our community, and we want to draw inspiration from that to create something that will help you share your stories as they happen, and we’ve got a plan to do it.

We want to make an ultimate newspaper.

That’s right. A real world honest-to-goodness newspaper. Made with paper and ink and everything.

With an edition at every tour, you’ll be able to keep track of the rise and fall of your favourite teams alongside reading about what’s going on in the wider community. It’ll be fresh news, but we promise not to hack anyone’s phone to get it.

We’ve called this project ‘The Ultimate’, as that’s what we’ve been calling the paper while we’ve been scheming. That obviously might not be the name we publish it under though.

As we said on Tuesday, these projects aren’t about us making money, they are about ultimate players sharing and growing the community. So if you have some stories you want to share, we want to hear them.

If you have want to commentate on the season as it develops, sharing the joys and upsets that fill those few short tournaments, we’ll give you an outlet beyond your newsfeed to do so.

And of course if you want to brag about your team’s plans to storm up the rankings this season, here’s your chance to raise that flag (but be prepared for the incoming banter).

Also if you know anything about editing copy, making newspapers, or reading words, we could probably use your help too.

Send whatever you want to [email protected] and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can (do bear with us, as you’ll have spotted we’ve got a lot on this week).

So that’s today’s news.

AND IT’S A NEWSPAPER!

Tune in tomorrow for more Soar.
