Hello Ladies and Gents, As I'm sure you've seen over the past couple of days Edd Carmichael has stood down from his role as University Coordinator. I'd like to copy Si's sentiments in thanking Edd for all his work, which for the most part goes on with people really noticing how much he has put into our sport and he deserves a huge amount of credit for everything he has done for us all.
Going forward as Edd mentioned we have changed the format of the Uni committee slightly and there are a few changes in personnel on the committee so listen up. Firstly we have multiple departures from the committee as well as Edd we are saying goodbye to Megan Hurst (the women's coordinator) and Ollie Gordon (Western RC). As with Edd both of these individuals have made huge contributions to University Ultimate and we are grateful to have had them. We have also introduced a new role, an open coordinator, this role will be similar to the women's coordinator and mixed coordinator roles in that the open coordinator is responsible for the whole of the open division and will work with regional coordinators to construct the schedules for all regional and national tournaments in the open division as well as dealing with tournament allocation. So if you want to host a tournament the procedure is now to send your bid form to [email protected]. For this role the we are fortunate to have Dave Halls (the current South East coordinator) stepping in to fill this position. What all this means is that there are some vacancies on the University committee which we are looking to fill. Whilst Megan has already found her replacement in Elly White we are in need of regional coordinators for the North, South-East and West. These role's are a great opportunity to get involved with how university ultimate is run in the UK. With the introduction of the Open coordinator role the nature of the position of regional coordinator has changed a bit and we're looking for RC's to offer a bit more in the way of supporting University Ultimate in their region. So primarily they will be responsible for calculating the seedings for regional tournaments, assisting in writing schedules for regional tournaments and developing University Ultimate in their region by doing things like encouraging both competitive and friendly matches between different universities and identifying universities where we can provide extra support to the clubs in an effort to grow ultimate in their region. They will also be involved in all discussions on the progression of University Ultimate. So if any of that sounds like it may interest you then please get in touch with me and please be aware that while it may help to be located in the region and playing university ultimate it isn't a requirement. And if your wondering who is sending this very long e-mail my name is Chris Bamford and I am the very lucky person who is taking over from Edd as University Coordinator so if you have thing you want to talk to me about please feel free to e-mail me. -- Chris Bamford UKU University Coordinator __________________________________________________ BritDisc mailing list [email protected] http://www.fysh.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/britdisc Staying informed - http://www.ukultimate.com/staying-informed
