One of the most recognizable songs of the late 60s and early 70's was sung
by a musician whose name isn't exactly a household word. In fact, whereas
most people know the song, few even know the band who recorded it. "Na Na
Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" is a song written and recorded by Gary DeCarlo,
Paul Leka and Dale Frashuer and they called their band "Steam." It became a
number one pop single on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1969. The song's chorus is
very well-known, and is frequently used as a crowd chant at many sporting
events. Putting it in historic context, the song was the last #1 hit of the
sixties, and not only did it end the decade, it knocked The Beatles out of
the top spot. They had been the highest charted single with
"Something/Come Together."

Gary DeCarlo also was known by his stage name Garrett Scott, and it's his
lead vocal on "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" which has since exceeded
sales of 6.5 million records. Gary, one of a select group of artists that can
claim they knocked The Beatles out of the #1 spot on the charts, will be a
Special Guest at a Beatles convention this Saturday and Sunday. DeCarlo
will be joining other special guests at "BEATexpo 2010" including fellow 60s
singer Tommy Roe, Denny Laine of Wings, and many other notables. Along with
the guests, there will be live music concerts, a film festival of rare
videos, guest authors, music & memorabilia marketplace and much more.
Gary DeCarlo will perform "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" at the
BEATexpo's Saturday night Special Concert Event on November 27, 2010. Tickets
