As a starting point you may look at the rt^3 repository at
http://brlcad.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/brlcad/rt^3/trunk/include/brlcad
and
http://brlcad.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/brlcad/rt^3/trunk/src/coreInterface
With the code you find there you can walk down the tree and ask every
object if it is a region. Don't hesitate to ask if you have problems
with this code.
