Thanks for the link, Tom.  I've seem PPL before and the project is certainly 
interesting, but their choice of license is rather suboptimal.  They're most 
interesting as a general processing library yet they have chosen to use the GPL 
(and explicitly say they're not willing to release under the LGPL).  That 
really just makes for a painful and annoying distribution process that (for my 
taste at least), is just not worth the hassles that would come with adopting it 
as a dependency.

On a more technical side, their project is interesting but also worth noting 
that they use GMP for their math.  That makes for a stable and robust system, 
but also one that is *very* slow (like two orders of magnitude).  They might 
have a floating point means to get around that, but I couldn't find anything on 
the site.  Alas, the ways we might potentially put the library to use are 
somewhat limited too (at least with current priorities).
